COVID-19 POLICY

Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, I have worked to provide piano services to my customers as safely as possible, following government guidance on working in people’s homes. As all restrictions in England have now been lifted, I am no longer required to implement most of these guidelines; however, Covid is still with us so I am still taking certain precautions, which I outline below.

Please read and agree to this page before booking a piano tuning.

If you would like to discuss anything about your appointment prior to my visit, request any further precautions or accommodations, or ask any questions, please feel free to contact me for more information.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION – PLEASE READ

If you, or anyone in your household:

  • have any coronavirus symptoms
  • have tested positive for coronavirus
  • have been told to self-isolate by NHS Test & Trace
  • have returned from an amber or red list country in the last 10 days (unless you have done a test to release)

I will be unable to carry out your tuning appointment at this time. Please contact me if you need to cancel or postpone; I do not charge for short-notice cancellations caused by COVID-19.

This applies even if you are fully vaccinated. While it is no longer legally required to self-isolate if you are fully vaccinated and a member of your household has Covid-19, I do not carry out appointments at households where a member is isolating.

What you need to do

  • Social distancing – Please continue to social distance from me, and ensure your household members do the same, as far as possible.
  • Increase airflow – Please open any windows and doors in the room the piano is in (unless the weather is prohibitive). Please note that if there is too much noise interference in an adjacent room e.g. a washing machine I may need the door to be closed.
  • Hand washing – Please wash your hands prior to my visit, to decrease risk in case you need to show me any issues with the piano.

If you are able to wear a face covering whilst in the room with me, I would appreciate it, but this is not a requirement.

What I will do

  • Hand washing – I will wash my hands before coming to your appointment and sanitize my hands on arrival at your home.
  • MaskI will wear a mask when entering your home. If I am alone in the room while tuning and there is good airflow, I may remove my mask for comfort – if you would prefer I not do this, please let me know prior to the appointment.
  • Regular testing – I take regular lateral flow tests (usually twice weekly). If you would like me to specifically take a test on the day of your appointment, please let me know.
  • Social distancing – When I arrive, I will knock on your door and step back to a distance of 2 metres. I will keep my distance from you as far as possible whilst in your home.
  • Cleaning – After tuning your piano, I will wipe down the keys, lid and any other contact areas.
  • Refreshments – While I am very grateful for my customers’ consideration, I am unable to accept drinks or other refreshments from customers at this time.

Other considerations

  • Cancellation fee – Please note that cancellations only do not incur a charge if caused by Covid-19 or an emergency. In other circumstances, I charge £30 if an appointment is cancelled or delayed by more than 30 minutes with less than 24 hours’ notice.
  • Public transport – I regularly use public transport for work. Whilst travelling on public transport I wear a mask, carry hand sanitizer and keep the NHS Test & Trace app active on my phone. If you have any concerns about this, please contact me.
  • Self-isolation – I will be fully vaccinated from September and, under the latest guidance, will not be legally required to self-isolate following contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid. If this happens when an appointment is booked, I will take a PCR test and let you know so you can decide what to do. If you prefer to rebook the appointment, this is not a problem.

Thank you for understanding. I hope all my customers remain safe and enjoy playing your pianos!
